A professional introduction

Hello.
I’m David Laposi.

I’m David Laposi, a colorist, DIT, and filmmaker based in Budapest. I bring an editor’s eye, experience on international sets, and a practical understanding of the journey from camera to master. I’m open to project work, longer collaborations, and relocating for the right team.

An editor’s eye. A wider view.

I completed BA and MA film degrees, specialising in editing. At Umbrella Budapest / New York, I worked across editing, online, and finishing on more than a hundred projects. That experience taught me to connect creative choices with the practical needs of the next department.

A production’s image, from both sides

On set, my roles have included data management, DIT, and dailies supervision. In post, I grade SDR and HDR projects from my Budapest studio. The production credits below describe my actual role on each film; my grading portfolio is presented separately.

Making work clearer for other people

I enjoy turning a technical problem into something a team can act on. Teaching more than 300 workshop participants, working with international crews, and continuing my own training all shape that approach. AI and automation are part of my practice where they help solve a real creative or production problem.

The next team

I’m particularly interested in HDR grading and finishing for features, series, and commercials. I would like to contribute to an experienced team, keep learning, and take responsibility for the image. Tell me about the role, the production, and how you work.

What I bring to a team.

Post-production and technical workflows

My experience spans DaVinci Resolve, Avid, Adobe, and Pomfort tools; conform, dailies preparation and quality checks; color management; and final delivery. I have worked with ACES and DaVinci Wide Gamut workflows and formats such as EXR and X-OCN. The toolset follows the project’s requirements.

Directing and editing

I directed, edited, and graded the Meló-Diák Flow, Meló-Diák App, and SkillX commercials. Working through the whole process gives me a practical understanding of how an idea survives the constraints of a production.

Teaching and continued learning

My workshops have welcomed more than 300 participants. I have taught international students in English at Budapest Metropolitan University and worked with Hungary’s television film-restoration professionals. I also continue my own training with Cullen Kelly. Teaching keeps me asking why a method works.

Creative AI and automation

I explore AI for visual development, image and video experiments, research, and repetitive production tasks. My toolkit includes ComfyUI and workflow automation alongside generative image, video, and audio tools. I assess the result in the context of the film and the people who need to use it.
